Measurement

We are beginning to look and compare objects for their mass, weight and capacity. We asked “ Which one is harder to lift/carry/push/fill?”

We tried lifting two bags that looked the same. We tried carrying two shopping bags that looked the same and we tried pushing and pulling two big containers that looked the same. We filled and emptied the same jars and cups with sand to compare them.

Science Experiment

Today we conducted a science experiment.
We wanted to see what would happen when we mixed milk with coke.

We made predictions, carried out the experiment, made observations and investigated why it happened.

Here are some photos of our experiment.

Then Kyle noticed something strange happening...

Here is a video of the experiment.

Maths

Yesterday for maths we worked in our problem solving teams to figure out a maths problem.

"There were 5 hen houses.  There were 2 chickens in each house.  How many chickens are there altogether?"

We needed to:
- read the question
-understand what we need to do
- choose how to solve the problem
-solve the problem
-answer the question
-check everyone understands

Here is a picture of Joel, Liam and Arna's problem solving efforts.
